Use of Free Software: A Shot-in-the-arm for IT users

Abdullakutty has been a strong and vociferous advocate for utilization of free software such as LINUX in lieu of paid software provided by Microsoft. Early in his tenure he initiated a series of discussions at the district level on Using Linux Software, and thereby gave a fillip to rural users to avoid unnecessary costs involved in the purchase of software, not to mention the legal issues involved in the use of pirated software. Today the Kerala layman is aware of the intricate complexities of IT, partly due to the spirited campaign by the young MP.

Private Members’ Bills

Several Private Members’ Bills have been introduced in the Lok Sabha by Abdullakutty, spanning diverse issues such as Television Regulation and Traffic Congestion Reduction in major metropolises.

Stand on Key Issues

On key issues affecting the lives of the common people, Abdullakutty has been fearless in speaking his mind, sometimes risking the displeasure of various political or other interest groups, including his own party, the CPI(M).
